Faroques Video Game Concept Art and Dynamic Creature illustration Project

Project Overview

I was tasked with creating the following for the client - TheVampiresManor (TVM) Studios:

  • *Create Deliverables of 1X 3D model of a Loon both with Strain and non-Strain forms
  • *Create Anatomy Study pages 1-2 of the Loon
  • *Create 30 Thumbnail Sketches (Both Stain and Normal Loon)
  • *Create 80 Iterations of 1 Loon Design and then 30 Iterations of a 2nd Loon Design
  • *Create 1 Turnaround Sheet for 3D modeling (both Stain and Normal Loon)
  • *Create 1 Dynamic Render of the Final Designs (both Stain and Normal Loon) - This One is the Final Illustration for Game Assets and Commercial Usage

Approach

This project was created for TheVampiresManor (TVM) Studios for their video game: FOQUES. I first searched for references of Loons and then did anatomy drawings to practice drawing their bodies and understanding their basic shapes so I can easily redraw them. I then created 6 Basic Body types to create my first design iterations for the creature.

This project's copyright will be owned by TheVampiresManor (TVM) Studios and will be used or not used for their future projects. I am not allowed to show everything until the video game and creature is officially released to the public.

Sith Illustration for Unofficial Star Wars Roleplaying Game Module

Project Overview

The project's goal was to create an illustration for a fan module of a Sith Lord who was trapped in a holocron and is an enemy that the players must face at the end of the module as the Sith was a powerful force user who's mind was digitally warped and trapped inside of a Holocron. It corrupted the Sith's mind and made the Sith extremely powerful and nearly immortal at the cost of the Lord's sanity.

Approach

I started with looking at references for Sith and aliens in the Star Wars Universe and their primary colors and hierarchy. I then sketched out the Sith in the digital art program and worked on creating a satisfying shadow that expressed the character's mysteriousness and aggressiveness. I created this illustration for a custom fan (unofficial) game module for a Star Wars Roleplaying Game.

Results

This drawing was able to successfully convey the character's personality and role in the story to the players of the module. It created more meaningful play for the game as a result: the players played the game longer.

Dragon Crystal Cave Background Illustration

Project Overview

The project goal was to create a background illustration for a television show: Beta Crystal which was created by DreamArc Studios.

Approach

I started with a concept of a location that may appear in the Beta Crystal TV show that DreamArc Studios was working on, since this was made to be a possible background for that show. This location was a Dragon Crystal Cave which once had an advanced alien civilization living in it but it is now mostly abandoned. I roughly blocked out the environment and used my references I gathered for the show's art style and setting and started to sketch the environment in Clip Studio Paint EX.

Results

This drawing helped me grow my skills in concept background art iteration for television shows.
